About Me

About Me
I design at a little firm called Amazon in New York City
I’m a Product Designer at Amazon. I Focus on product design, design strategy, user research, interface design, experience design, and usability testing. I have a BFA in Graphic Design from Virginia Commonwealth University, one of the top design schools in the US.
I previously designed for the Lowline and others
I've previously done freelance work for the Lowline, a startup that is building the world's first underground park in Manhattan. I’ve also done digital design for a brand new contemporary art institute, design team management at a non-profit studio, and work for an ad agency in Qatar.
I am curious, passionate, and driven by design
I’ve done independent grant-funded research on generative and conditional design in the Netherlands. I’ve also done design field research in Portugal, had my writing published in various journals, and even filed a provisional patent.
My empathy for product users stems from my volunteer work
I’ve helped build 10+ websites for International LGBTQ+ organizations through an initiative called Out in Tech Digital Corps. I also chaired a LGBTQ+ Pride group for 3+ years and have done humanitarian work in Jordan, social business development in Turkey, and volunteer work the Bahamas.
Oh, and I'm a triplet- people really love that
I also love to read, listen to music, and travel (Paris, Kyoto, and Istanbul are some of my favorite cities.) You can see what I’m reading and listening to via the  links at the bottom of this page.

A talented designer
Sandra Garett,
Digital Brand Lead
at Mercer
Michael is not only a talented designer with an excellent eye for spacing and typography, he's also committed with great spirit! I consider myself fortunate to have him as a co-worker, and fellow designer.
Insightful, organized,
& dedicated
Bosko Kacerevic,
Communications Manager at Verizon Corporate
I found Michael to be insightful, organized and dedicated to putting out a quality product… I have watched him skillfully take on new projects and initiatives with a keen ability to manage multiple clients. I've also been impressed with watching him not just gather requirements from clients, but also use his knowledge in visual design to provide the customer with alternative options that improve upon the original request. I'm looking forward to working with Michael on more projects.
Your team is in good hands
Sibinee Jokela,
Business Intelligence Developer at Block
I had the pleasure of being a part of the team Michael led in building a website for a Zimbabwe-based organization. His support and leadership throughout the process were key factors in the team’s success. His clear expectations set us up to work together smoothly and he remained available to answer questions and help solve problems while keeping track of the website’s progress. Although none of team members had previously met, Michael’s management enabled us to complete the entire site in under six hours. As a member of his team, I felt heard and supported before, during, and after the site was created. It’s clear that he cares about the team he works with and has a unique ability to lead selflessly while making quick, yet thoughtful and educated, decisions. Having Michael as a project leader should instill confidence that your team is in good hands.
